Over the years, the Institute has won accolades for its performance and some of the milestones of the Institute are mentioned below:

IBPS has been the pioneer in the use of multiple-choice objective tests for mass level selection. It has evolved sophisticated result processing methodology to produce 100% accurate results. It has developed unique software for analyzing items on psychometric properties (1987). It has also developed unique software for identifying cases of use of unfair practice during examinations (1986). It has conducted online examinations for inter-cadre promotions in banks. In a short time gap of 3 weeks, the Institute sent call letters to 2.42 million candidates (2008).

IBPS has a seamless online registration process for about 3.5 million candidates for a single project (2009). It has also handled filling in of 79,236 vacancies in 35 states/union territories (2010-11). It conducts over 400 examinations in a calendar year. It also conducts examination for 600 thousand candidates at 200 centers across 2000 venues in one day. IBPS does testing for over 13 million candidates in a year. For senior level selection and promotion, the Institute has promoted Scientific Assessment Centre process (1996). It has a reservoir of highest number of tested items (Question Bank).

IBPS also contributes tremendously towards conservation of environment through Paperless Registration Process. .
